What do you get out of it?

Apart from meeting new friends, you also gain new skills which will come in useful in civilian life, Some of these skills are recognised by some employers and it can help you to get in to the RAF or the other Armed Services.

How do I join ?

All you have to do is come along to our Squadron Headquarters on a Monday or Wednesday night between 7.00 and 9.30pm, when you will get a guided tour of the squadron, an opportunity to talk with a Squadron Officer and a chance to take part in Squadron activities.

What is the ATC ? (Air Training Corps)

Rushden has its own ATC Squadron which is known as 858 (Rushden) Squadron. 858 Squadron meets every Monday and Wednesday at their Victoria Road Headquarters between 7:00 and 9:30 pm. The Squadron also runs a number of other activities at other times convenient to the cadets - there is always plenty to do!

The Squadron is run by officers who are commissioned in the RAF Volunteer Reserve (Training) Branch. They are assisted by adult Senior NCO’s and Civilian Instructors. All are volunteers from every walk of life.

How much does all this cost ?

The training and uniform is free, although we do ask for a small deposit - all you pay is £1.50p per week towards the squadron's recreation and welfare.
